As we wrap up 2023 at CCMS, we would like to reflect on one of the many highs of the year, our Annual trip to Lanzarote.

Another great two weeks supported by the wonderful Wave Project in Devon. Tom Biggart joined us and kindly wrote up his experience.

As summer winds down and we head into Autumn, we’re looking back on some of the many highs we’ve had in the last few months. Ensuring our clients live full, and fulfilling, lives is of the utmost importance in all that we do so to see, through their achievements, the progress of each client as well as the commitment of each carer is what it’s all about. We’ve put together a few of our favourite memories from this summer because Life Is For Living!

Neuro Massage is a neurologically specialised massage service with deep knowledge and experience treating people with neurological injuries and conditions. The at-home service provides many benefits helping patients thrive.

Neurologic Music Therapy (NMT) focuses on supporting non-musical goals, harnessing the unique way in which music is processed in the brain to build new neural pathways around areas that have been damaged by disease or injury. The evidence-based, neuroscientific model of music therapy is made up of 20 standardised clinical techniques for speech & language training, cognitive training, and sensorimotor training.

Lionel had a right MCA stroke in 2021 and was referred to Neurologic Music Therapy by the multidisciplinary team at the Regional Neurologic Rehabilitation Unit at Homerton Hospital where Chiltern Music Therapy run a bi-weekly clinic. His referral to NMT was to support with his left-sided visual neglect and memory difficulties.

Cyber Spider is the UKs only specialist company set up to support brain injury survivors. They are urging clients, and the specialists who support them, to contact them early to ward off the risks of abuse from predators and/or investigation by the author.

What is Neurologic Music Therapy?

Bliss at our Disabled Friendly & Utterly Dreamy Normandy Retreat. We were blown away to discover that from the sauna & the hot-tub to the yurt & the pond, nothing was out of bonds for dad & that was before we got into our state of the art accommodation.

Our Founder and Director, Maggie Sargent, recently wrote a hugely insightful and interesting article on the topic of non-remunerative employment with the Royds Withy King team.

Increased screen time worsens our eyesight. Children and adults have had to do more work on the computer since lockdown. This has had a detrimental effect on their eyesight. It could also make people more interested in the internet and more dependent on technology. This could lead to other skills being worsened.

The outbreak of COVID-19 in the UK this year has forced many businesses including CCMS Ltd to make significant changes and adapt the way in which we deliver our services daily during these unprecedented times.

Adam loves surfing and returned this year to Cornwall with friends and his support team. Looks like they all had great fun!

Inspiring film showing the benefits of group travel for families. Annually CCMS run a bespoke ski trip for children and their families during February half term, facilitating a strong shared experience and supporting all involved. This film combines footage and interviews from the last two years, it's breath-taking! We were proud to show it at the 2017 CBIT conference and hope it inspires you! These children and their families are amazing!

This video is of Adam and his support team surfing in Cornwall. Adam loves surfing! And... Adam composed his own backing music to accompany the video with his music therapist. Adam played the harmonica, some keyboard and of course his voice. He chose all the sounds and beats himself. Great job Adam!

In October 2016, CCMS held their annual rehabilitation conference ‘Breaking More Boundaries: The Sequel’ at Newbury Racecourse where they both shared and celebrated client experiences. This video is of the conference.

Due to the huge success of our current trip, it has been decided to run a Safari Camp from 22 October 2016 to 31 October (half term) for children up to the age of 18 years.

Here is the video of the Breaking Boundaries Conference CCMS held last year to raise awareness of life after catastrophic injury and to raise funds for Ski 2 Freedom and The Silverlining.

This year CCMS organised two very successful ski trips to La Plagne, for brain injured adults and children accompanied by Maggie Sargent. We will be going again next year and further details will be added shortly.

In November 2014, Ali Drake and Kate Russell spent nine days visiting a village in Namibia.

In 2011 Maggie Sargent was one of a group of people who all very bravely took part in a skydive to raise funds for the Charity, The Silverlining!

2020 has been a year of uncertainty, cancelled plans and new rules to live by due to Covid 19. Its been a Spring where we have all been living with disappointment, changed plans and learning to adapt to an online world.
