EXPERIENCE

Lara qualified as an occupational therapist in 2005 and has worked in case management since 2013. Initially Lara worked with adults working across hospital and community settings in several areas ranging from trauma orthopaedics, neurology, elderly and oncology within the NHS.

Lara moved out to Australia and worked in a new service set up across Queensland for adults with learning disabilities and behaviours which challenge. Returning to the UK Lara worked for several years in the areas of mental health, adult services and a community learning disability team. She then worked for an Australian global business insurer where she gained a vast understanding of litigation in personal injury and employers’ liability across catastrophic claims.

Lara can provide:

  • Functional Assessments of Daily Living Assessments
  • Cognitive and Perceptual Assessments
  • Management of Adaptations and specialist equipment provision
  • Setting SMART goals to allow individuals to see where they started and the progression they make
  • Sourcing independent therapy and care providers to meet the needs of the client
  • Close working with all parties involved including the client, family, independent and statutory bodies, and support workers to ensure a coordinated and proactive outcome for the client
  • Liaison with education providers and participation in the EHCP process for teenagers and adults in education until they are 25 years of age

Lara’s clinical expertise is working with adults with learning disabilities and behaviours which challenge. She also has a large amount of experience of working with adults with neurological conditions as well as complex orthopaedic injuries and mental health conditions.

Lara’s particular interest and passion is working with individuals who have sustained an amputation and she has a lot of skills and knowledge in this area.

As a case manager Lara has always had a strong interest in housing, having been brought up with a builder as a father who later qualified as a clerk of works. Housing, adaption and specialist equipment is a strong focus of Lara’s continuing professional development. The environment is such a strong focus and has a large impact on all aspects of an individual’s social, family, and physical life as well as their mental health.

Lara has more recently been working with clients with ADHD and sensory issues.
