Accessible Holidays in France

Camprond Farmhouse

We have a beautiful 17th Century Farmhouse in Camprond, which is available to book all year round. The house is located in a secluded hideaway on the edge of an historic, picture postcard village.

It stands in an idyllic corner of Normandy and offers an accessible holiday venue and retreat. There are sweeping countryside views near the village, and it is about an hour from either Cherbourg or Caen ferry ports.

The property sleeps up to 16 people. There are a total of eight large double and twin bedrooms - five in the main house and three in the adjoining Gite.

The retreat comprises of two adjoining properties. Downstairs in the main house there is wheelchair-access throughout and there is a large sitting room, dining room, and kitchen with utility area.  There are three large double bedrooms on the first floor with en suite facilities, and the second floor has its own sitting area and kitchenette and two en suite twin rooms.

Adjoining the main house, the purpose-adapted Gite provides an open-plan, fully high level, disabled friendly living area with separate entrance.  Downstairs there is a double-room with profiling bed and overhead tracking to an en suite Aquanova bathing system, wet room, and toileting.  Upstairs there are two twin rooms, which can accommodate support workers or additional family and friends, and both have en suite facilities.  The disabled-friendly kitchen has cantilever surfaces, an induction hob, oven, microwave, washing machine, tumble dryer and also allows for a fully self-contained living area.

Outside there is space to seat in excess of 20 people with tables, umbrellas, and chairs. There is a fish pond, hot tub, sauna, and a yurt, which can be used for extra accommodation for people to sleep. We also have a separate large studio, which can be used for yoga, functions and board meetings.

The two properties enable families and friends to enjoy an overseas trip together, something which they may have previously avoided because of the challenges of travelling abroad with a high level of disability.

We have also had the opportunity for the farmhouse and outbuildings to be surveyed by Jane Ferguson and Maria Morris. They were very excited to find that there were no negative energy lines – only positive and healing energy going through the building, with a vortex of energy in the dining room, sitting room and kitchen areas, pretty much throughout every room of the house.

All of this positivity combined with the ambiance of serenity that the house offers is surreal and can only enhance what we are able to offer to our guests.

As well as an opportunity for our guests to enjoy the farm and what the surrounding area offers. We will also be running various short residential relaxation and remedial courses and workshops to include the mind, body, and soul.

There are plenty of things to do and see within a short drive including the leading tourist destinations of Mont-Saint-Michael, the D-Day landing beaches, and The Christian Dior Museum.  The retreat is situated within 35 minutes of some of the best beaches to be found in Normandy, including the wild beach known as Plage de la Eglise and its miles of sand dunes.  With plenty of historic towns and markets to visit, you do not need to go to far to be immersed in French culture.

Reviews

A perfect holiday for families with disabilities

"My husband was severely injured in a bus accident in 2018 and this was our first trip since to France as a family. We were nervous about organising a holiday in France, but reassured from the outset by the excellent communication and compassion shown by the owners, their professional experience in nursing and extensive knowledge of disability.

Provision for my quadriplegic husband and his two carers was perfect and, as a bonus, the enormous house and everything provided for a supremely comfortable stay, and in particular the 'teen suite' on the top floor and the hot tub and sauna were much enjoyed by our children, aged 15, 16 and 19. Our dog had a wonderful time as well and we absolutely loved 'the old France' of wonderful great value restaurants, beaches with free and easily available disability parking, plus dog access, and an absolutely amazing gaufres/churros/crepes etc stand at Gouville-sur-mer.

Bruno, who looks after the house and its visitors, was incredibly quick and helpful if ever there was a query. We can thoroughly recommend this property and location to families or groups including someone with any sort of disability, and to families with none at all."

"We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Camprond Farmhouse!! A typical French country farmhouse beautifully appointed which was extremely comfortable! We stayed in the gite (annex) as my husband is partially disabled and it was such a treat for him to be able to have a bath because the gite is fully equipped for severely disabled people! He normally showers so this was the first bath in many years!

So many things to do in the area that we were busy most days with some not joining all outings, staying in to enjoy the lovely farmhouse, soaking up the sun.We were also lucky enough to have a seafood feast one evening with both raw and cooked oysters followed by lobster on the barbecue! Wonderful to be able to have all these delicacies so easily available locally!! A real treat!!

We so look forward to visiting again!"

Easter 2019

"I stayed at Camprond farmhouse for a week at Easter time in 2019. It was a girls only trip and we had a fabulous time.  Booking was straightforward and the instructions for travel/arrival very helpful.  The house itself is beautifully renovated, has everything you could need and was immaculate for our stay – all rooms have been finished to such a high standard and have their own en-suite bathrooms which makes all the difference for a group booking.   The garden is beautifully tended and really well equipped for al fresco dining etc.  We even made it into the wood-fired hot tub (special thanks to Bruno, the groundsman, who kindly lit it for us!), despite the weather being a bit chilly, and taking in the picturesque countryside views whilst having a dip and a glass of wine was heaven! The area has lots to offer and explore (you’ll need a car) – long beaches, a large local supermarket, plenty of delicious French restaurants (including some incredible Michelin recommended places close-by), small and larger towns to wonder around.  Within walking distance (20mins each way) of the house are a good bakery and butcher. Highly recommended."

August 2017

"Thank you for sharing your beautiful French Farmhouse. We had an absolutely fabulous time and we could not have asked for a more beautiful and peaceful place to stay. The garden surrounding the house completed the whole sense of calm with roses, hydrangeas, hedging, and sheltered areas to sit and take in the views across idyllic French countryside.

We found so many things to do within an easy drive including visiting the leading tourist destinations of Mont-Saint-Michael, The D-Day landing beaches, and The Christian Dior museum. Having fabulous beaches within approximately a 35-minute drive was great, and I would highly recommend the wild beach called Plage de la Vieille Eglise and its miles of sand dunes. With plenty of historic towns and markets to visit we quickly all became immersed in the friendly French culture.

The drive from the ferry was surprisingly straightforward along excellent roads. We did not want to leave, and hope to return. Thank You!"
