Marie is a qualified Speech and Language Therapist with over 18 years’ experience working within both community and private settings. Initially working with young children with developmental difficulties, over the last ten years, she has specialised in supporting older children and younger adults with a range of complex learning and communication difficulties as a result of brain and birth injuries.

Marie is able to provide case management for the following clients:

  • Brain injury (Children Young Adults and Older Adults)
  • Cerebral palsy and birth injuries

  • Transitions and Independent Living
  • Mental health problems
  • Accessing Education
  • Communication difficulties
  • Attention-related difficulties (ADD and ADHD)

As a case manager, Marie has access to a network of appropriately trained and skilled and experienced, treating therapists that can be appointed to provide a Multi Disciplinary Team of treating therapists ensuring a cohesive approach and who will work from goal based platforms with measurable outcomes.

Marie has extensive experience of providing advice and training so that families / carers and other professionals are able to support people with brain injuries. This has included adapting the environment to promote effective communication.

Marie's clinical expertise is working with children and young adults, but she also has the ability to work with people with other types of communication and learning difficulties. She herself has also worked as part of multi-disciplinary teams in a number of Child Development Centres, providing assessment and therapy for pre-school children with developmental difficulties. She has also worked with children in nurseries, primary schools and community clinics. In addition to working with the children and their families / carers, she also provided advice and training to staff.

Marie has a particular area of interest is supporting people to communicate effectively so they can access education, live as independently as possible and reduce challenging behaviour. Marie can also assess and provide therapy for clients' communication needs, including their receptive language, expressive skills and social interaction. She is also very skilled in providing information so that people with communication difficulties are able to understand, and supporting clients to be able to convey information. 

Marie worked as a Speech and Language Therapist in two specialist colleges for young people aged 16-24 with a range of learning difficulties including Autistic Spectrum Disorder and ADHD. Many of the students had complex communication difficulties. As the lead therapist, she was responsible for supporting and developing other therapists on the team.

Marie maintains her clinical skills and knowledge through a variety of CPD events, including attendance at training and study days and frequent supervision.


Marie has combined a busy working life with bringing up two children with her partner. Having children has further underlined the value of effective communication.
