Personal Assistant/Support Worker

The successful applicants will help the family manage her day to day physical needs by including her in activities such as baking, schoolwork, being outdoors, caring for the family pet dog and assisting with dog walking. 

Night support is also required to assist with personal care and getting her ready for bed.  The client may wake for sips of water or to adjust the duvet during the night.  Night support will also start the next day by getting our client ready and driving her to school in an automatic wheelchair accessible vehicle.

Weekend days will be a mixture of school work, leisure and therapy. Each weekend is different.

Weekend nights will be similar as weekday night except no school run and occasional swimming with the client.

The support team will be supported by parents and a treating therapist.

There are a variety of contracted positions and Bank positions available, covering the following hours:

Working hours:

  1. Weekday term-time shifts 15.00pm to 20.00pm.
  2. School holidays 09.30am to 20.00pm.
  3. Weekday nights 20.00pm until 09.30am the following morning (Thursday currently vacant).
  4. Weekend nights:
  • Friday 20.00pm to 10.30am Saturday.
  • Saturday 19.30pm to 10.30am Sunday.
  • Sunday 18.30pm to 9.30am Monday.
  1. Saturday day 10.30am to 19.30pm.
  2. Sunday day 10.30am to 18.30pm.

There may be some degree of flexibility to shift start and finish times.

Our client seeks someone who is well organised and flexible.

An NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care or equivalent is desirable. Otherwise the applicant must be willing to undertake Care Certificate training.

All posts are subject to an Enhanced DBS Disclosure with Child Workforce Barring.  Full training will be provided.

A full driving licence is essential for some shifts and applicants must be willing to drive the family wheelchair accessible vehicle. Non-drivers will be considered for mainly weekend day and night shifts.
