Children's Support Worker/Buddy
Our client is a bright, intelligent and happy young man, who is wheelchair dependent. He uses eye gaze communication, however, he can also communicate his needs by signs and non-verbal communication.
He attends a school for children with special needs and has additional one-to-one support at school due to the complexity of his care needs.
He has support at home from his parents and a busy vibrant family life with his siblings. He loves football, watching sport and computer games.
Our client requires an active support worker to assist with his personal care and work alongside therapists to help maximise his physical and emotional well-being. You would also be required to support him with his skills for independence and activities.
Applicants must have a positive attitude and a good sense of humour and be able to demonstrate the ability to work confidently both alone and as part of a team. In addition, applicants must evidence skills and ability to encourage independence.
Previous experience of working in a client’s home with clients who have Cerebral Palsy or complex needs is desirable, however not essential, as full training will be given.
There are a variety of shifts available to cover days, evenings, weekdays and weekends.
Our client seeks someone who is well organised, flexible and who can demonstrate a high quality of verbal and written communication skills.
