Self-Employed *Female Rehabilitation Assistant

She has a neurological condition that affects one of her arms, therefore the rehabilitation assistant will be responsible for seeing the client after school each day to assist her with physiotherapy and occupational therapy exercises and activities.  She may also require some sessions to be delivered at weekends and during the daytime in the school holiday periods.  The programme of exercises and activities will be provided by her treating physiotherapist and occupational therapist who you will liaise with regularly.

Previous experience working as a rehabilitation or therapy assistant, or as a carer in an environment where you have assisted with the delivery of therapy programmes for children is preferred.  Alternatively, you may be university student studying physiotherapy, occupational therapy, nursing or another allied health profession, or have experience as a teaching assistant.

You will be enthusiastic and have the ability to motivate children to engage with therapeutic activities and exercises.

The successful applicant must be flexible to see the client regularly at the times agreed by her parents.

It is desirable that applicants live in close proximity to our client’s home in Milton Keynes to facilitate regular visits.  A full driving licence is preferred as there may be occasions when you would accompany our client to activities such as swimming.

An NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care or equivalent is desirable. Otherwise the applicant must be willing to undertake Care Certificate training.

All posts are subject to an Enhanced DBS Disclosure with Child Workforce Barring.  Full training will be provided.
