Experienced Special Needs Teaching Assistant
Our client has cerebral palsy, he is wheelchair dependent and he is a bright, intelligent, happy young man.
The successful candidate will provide one-to-one support in the school classroom, and assist the teacher in the delivery of the curriculum to our client. We are seeking someone with experience in using Eye Gaze communication or experience working with communication aids and willing to learn. Ideally you will have some experience of supporting children with preparing lesson plans.
Duties will include personal care, feeding, manual handling and physiotherapy.
Training will be provided by Penn Hall School and CCMS Ltd.
Experience of working with children with complex needs in a school is essential.
This is a full time post, 8:30am to 3.15pm during term time.
The successful candidate will be included as part of a care team at home and must able to attend team meetings and training as additional duties.
During the school holidays there is an option to take the holidays off or to work flexibly to cover working hours with our client in his own home, supporting with all daily living activities, participating with therapy programmes, working closely with family and professionals.
An NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care or equivalent is desirable. Otherwise the applicant must be willing to undertake Care Certificate training.
All posts are subject to an Enhanced DBS Disclosure with Child Workforce Barring. Full training will be provided. A full driving licence is essential.
