Experienced Support Worker
We are recruiting a support worker to work with our client, a 17-year-old young man. He is a wheelchair user and his speech is affected by his Cerebral Palsy. He requires a support worker to share and enjoy outings and activities with him, including going to football matches, concerts and to the pub. There may also be the possibility of accompanying him on holiday.
In addition, he needs to be escorted to and from school and to be supported during the school holidays.
There are also some personal care aspects to the role.
Applicants must have experience of, and enthusiasm, for working with young people with physical and communication disabilities.
Experience of working on rehabilitation programmes under guidance of therapists would be beneficial.
Working hours: a minimum of 100 hours per month, to include days, sleep-in nights and weekends.
Our client seeks someone who is well organised, flexible, trustworthy, reliable and who can fit in with a family environment.
An NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care or equivalent is desirable. Otherwise the applicant must be willing to undertake Care Certificate training.
All posts are subject to an Enhanced DBS Disclosure with Child and Adult Workforce Barring. Full training will be provided. A full driving licence is essential.
