Bank *Female Buddy Support Worker

We are looking for a buddy to add to the existing care team to support the client who is a young 15-year-old girl with Cerebral Palsy who lives at home with her parents.  She enjoys being kept busy with activities such as swimming, horse riding, shopping, arts and crafts, fitness and holidays.  The role is to support our client on a 2:1 basis during activities with this being the 2nd carer role.

The client has most of her food, fluids and medication via a PEG, she communicates using Makaton and requires assistance to safely mobilise. All training will be given where necessary.

You will work as part of a wider team who are providing support, care and therapy for the client ensuring her safety and physical wellbeing.  The young girl has regular therapy, and the focus of her parents is for their daughter to reach her full potential and to live the best life possible and as independently as possible.  A buddy is required to support the client to participate in a wider range of activities and when necessary, support with the delivery of any care needs.

A friendly, patient, warm, caring, reliable and trustworthy person is needed who can work as part of a team.

You will be expected to use information technology such as email, intranet, electronic records etc.  Training and support will be provided as necessary and you are expected to maintain your IT skills for you to carry out your duties.

Applicants must have a full driving licence as they will be required to drive the client’s vehicle.

Client communicates using Makaton experience would be helpful but is not essential.

Applicants with experience of working with other young people with physical or learning disabilities would be preferred, although this is not essential as full training, supervision and support will be provided.

Our client seeks someone who is well organised and flexible.

An NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care or equivalent is desirable. Otherwise the applicant must be willing to undertake Care Certificate training.

All posts are subject to an Enhanced DBS Disclosure with Child Workforce Barring.  Full training will be provided. A full driving licence is essential.
