*Male Therapy Buddy/PA

This exciting opportunity would suit a Psychology or Health Studies student with a genuine desire to work in a rehabilitation role

Our client requires a Therapy Buddy/PA to support him with therapy programmes, to access community activities and optimise his independence.  He attends an Independent Specialist School for Children with Speech, Language and Communication Impairment on a residential basis and returns home every weekend and during the school holidays.

This is a fantastic opportunity to work with an inspirational young man who will reward you with his infectious laughter, humour and love for life.  Training for successful candidates regarding therapy and support programmes will be provided.  Successful candidates will be required to work on their own initiative without direct supervision and undertake a variety of support tasks within the home such as preparation of drinks, meals, snacks, and other light domestic tasks to promote client enablement.  Supporting him to develop and enhance his functional skills and live life to the full are key requirements of the role.

Our client will require care and support at various hours including the weekends and evenings and there will be an expectation for successful candidates to support him with personal care and all activities of daily living, whilst promoting his independence.

Applicants must have previous experience of working with children/young people with an Acquired Brain Injury or additional needs.  You must also have the ability to communicate effectively, plan and organise activities and implement therapy programmes.

Working hours: Term time – 12 hours per week, which will comprise 4 hours on a Friday evening and 8 hours on a Saturday.  School holidays – 24 hours per week, which will comprise shifts of various lengths between the hours of 8am and 8pm, over a period of 3 or 4 days a week.

Our client seeks someone who is well organised and flexible.

An NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care or equivalent is desirable. Otherwise the applicant must be willing to undertake Care Certificate training.

All posts are subject to an Enhanced DBS Disclosure with Child Workforce Barring.  Full training will be provided. A full driving licence is essential.
