Suzie is a registered nurse with over 30 plus years extensive clinical nursing experience, 20 of which were in complex brain injury rehabilitation.
Suzie’s specialist experience includes general medicine and complex neurological rehabilitation. Suzie progressed from Ward Manager to Modern Matron and later General Manager in a regional complex brain injury unit.
Suzie has extensive experience of working with colleagues from multiple professional backgrounds to meet the needs of the client including working collaboratively with Adult Social and Health Care teams. She is responsive to the needs of others, extremely proactive and understands the need to be flexible.
Suzie successfully manages clients with the following:
- Traumatic brain injury (adolescent and Adult) ranging from walking wounded to high level physical and cognitive difficulties/vegetative state /minimally conscious state
- Spinal injuries (Adult)
- Palliative care
- Tracheostomy/Ventilated clients
- Elderly care including those suffering from dementia
- Amputees (Adult)
Suzie has completed the Community Case Management Services brain, spinal and catastrophic complex injury Pathway Training and is committed to attending regular seminars, conferences and other training to update her knowledge.
Suzie also undertakes risk assessments aimed at promoting the client’s independence whilst creating a safe environment with implemented risk controls. As a case manager, Suzie has the required skillset to organise the recruitment and interviewing of support workers and treating professionals and she is able to confidently set up care regimes ranging from a few hours to 24-hour care teams.
Suzie acts as an advocate for her clients, always making sure that they are well represented and have access to the specialist services and equipment that they require to lead as independent life as possible.
Suzie is married with two grown up daughters and lives in Warwickshire. She enjoys her leisure time and has in the last two years become a keen gardener, finding this a relaxing pastime. She enjoys the company of her friends and loves going to the theatre. Suzie visits her daughters in London on a regular basis.
