Bank Support Worker

*Female Bank support worker required for a child with cerebral palsy with physical and learning disabilities living in the Ystrad Mynach area of S Wales. The support worker will be required to cover shifts as required, staff holidays and sickness. Shifts are mainly 12 hour waking night shifts. However, there will be some daytime shifts particularly during school holidays. Shifts may be during the week or at weekends.

The client is non-verbal and needs 24-hour postural management. She requires support with all activities of daily living and is fed via a gastrostomy

Essential Requirements

Female support worker

Non-smoker

Previous experience of working with disabled children

Experience of working with people with communication difficulties

Good communication and organisational skills

Reliability and flexibility

Capable of working alone and using initiative (once assessed as competent in relevant skills)

IT Literate

Desirable Requirements

Care Certificate / NVQ Level 2 or equivalent

Previous experience of working in client’s own home

Previous experience of working with children with cerebral palsy

Previous experience of working with clients with epilepsy

Previous experience of Gastrostomy care / administration of PEG feeds

The BANK Support Worker will be required to cover shifts as required, staff holidays and sickness.  They should be flexible and willing to deal with the day to day needs of the family. A variety of shifts are available to include days, nights and weekends.

 

All posts are subject to Enhanced DBS Disclosure.  Full training will be provided. A full driving licence is essential.
