Our client is an 11-year-old boy who lives with his parents and an older brother in a fully adapted property. He is an engaging young man who loves social interaction and to be the centre of attention!
He has Cerebral Palsy, affecting all four limbs, complex medical needs, is nonverbal (although communicates extremely well non-verbally and using eye gaze technology.) He has epilepsy, (infrequent seizures related to high temperatures), is PEG fed, and requires medication day and night. He requires one to one 24-hour care, a full care team is in place when he is not in school.
The role involves 2 waking nights. The night time shift begins at 8.00pm, when he is already in bed. The shift will include looking after him but also some domestic tasks and then getting him up and ready for school in the morning.
Our Client has a fully adapted bedroom and bathroom. There is a separate room for carers to carry out admin tasks.
Once up and dressed he loves music, Formula 1 Racing, movement and has a great sense of humour, loving to hear general gossip! His bedroom is fully kitted out with hoisting and height adjustable bed within a reasonable sized bedroom. He is currently involved in designing his own house for completion in about a year.
He has a therapy programme (OT, Physio and Speech and language therapy) which is carried out at home and should any day shifts be covered, the successful applicant may get involved with carrying these out.
