EXPERIENCE

Robert joined the Royal Navy Reserve in 2006 when he was just 16 years old. He progressed through the ranks to Leading Hand and has actively taught recruits/ratings in his unit for a few years.

Robert started his civilian career working in a restaurant where he rose to supervisor level. He built his experiences and understanding of food safety during his time there. It was his role to effectively mentor staff to ensure the safe practise of food hygiene. He then moved into the care sector working as a residential support worker for young adults with autism/challenging behaviour.

Robert has been a keen first aider since a young age when he joined St. John Ambulance as a cadet. Later he progressed to become a first aider within the Royal Navy, which has served good purpose on both land and at sea. He used his background to further enchance his skills and has become accredited in First Aid, Paediatric First Aid, Basic Life Support and Automated External Defibrilator Trainer.

In 2012 Robert was fortunate to be selected to work at the London OIympic Games with the Royal Navy, mainly based at Greenwich Park. He found this a fantastic experience. At the end of the Olympics, Robert was approached by his seniors and was offered the opportunity to spend a year working with Royal Navy Gibraltar Squadron, where he further developed his reservist career.

On his return to the United Kingdom, Robert used his previous experience to become an accredited trainer to deliver a selection of training courses through his own training company and with employment within the NHS. Subsequently, Robert made the decision to leave the NHS to devote more time to develop his training company. Alongside delivering training, Robert works as a Case Manager Assistant working with a variety of clients.

Voluntary / Charity Work

Previously, Robert was a volunteer at St. John Ambulance where he provided first aid cover at various events such as Newark & County Show. His time with St. Johns’ really cemented what has made him a keen first aider today. He has contacted his local Community First Responders group and hopes to be an active part of this group in the near future.

At the age of 18, Robert became a member of the Samaritans but unfortunately he had to end his voluntary role there to serve in Gibraltar, however he still supports the Samaritans where possible.
